From 1840 for over a century, school building design in Brighton and Hove was dominated by one family. Several of these buildings are still standing, a few converted to flats but most continuing in educational use.  The focus of this brief overview is the exceptional contribution of the Simpson family of architects to education and to our urban landscape. . .
